David Smith was the V.P. Sales & Marketing for ARVA Industries. As the V.P. of Sales & Marketing he was instrumental in obtaining orders for the ARVA model AT3035 C-130 air transportable crane with the U.S. Air Force. The Underground Mobile Mining Crane product range was frown from 7.5 ton to 25 ton capacities equipped with strong short booms that are used for general lift requirements throughout the mine. Another primary use for the cranes is to install and remove the cutters from mine head drill equipment.
1996 to 2001
A Rotating Manipulator/Fan Handler used for handling ventilation exhaust fans in underground mines and tunnels is another product he was responsible to get to market. The device when used with the ARVA 0207 boom can clamp onto a fan/barrel/transformer from the top or in any position so as to lift, rotate, and tilt for placement in virtually any position overhead quickly, safely, and efficiently. The ARA0207 crane is fitted with a removable tip to allow for easy transition from crane hook work to the manipulator head, radio remote controls, and the ability to mount onto existing host carriers permanently or by means of quick release pins and connections makes this machine very versatile in underground mining. Tire and pipe handling attachments are also available as options with the rotating manipulator.
